Job summary

The Kansas Judicial Branch is seeking a Transcriptionist in Bourbon County, Kansas, to produce accurate transcripts from tape or digital recordings. The role requires a high school diploma and 1 year of court-related experience.

Two years of typing experience and proficiency in Word, Excel, and PDF software are required, along with the ability to follow instructions and maintain professional relationships among staff.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent and at least one year of court-related experience.
  • One to two years experience as a typist, including knowledge of transcript formatting and requirements.
  • Experience with computer programs, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PDF software a must.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions and establish and maintain effective relationships with other employees.

Responsibilities

  • Produce accurate transcripts of judicial proceedings from both tape and digital recordings as requested.
  • Certify accuracy of transcripts prepared.
  • Process transcript requests and engage in written correspondence with requestors.
  • Maintain records and filing systems to facilitate storage and retrieval of transcripts prepared.
  • Will also perform some administrative duties as assigned under the supervision of the Court Administrator.

Job Duties
