The hiring salary for this position will be from the min to mid-point of the salary range.

The Training Support Specialist provides administrative and training support for environmental, health, and safety programs. The position is responsible for the day-to-day delivery of Maryland Center of Environmental Training’s (MCET) continuing education courses in coordination with nine community colleges, onsite and offsite for clients. It requires strong administrative and interpersonal skills, organization, computer literacy, technical expertise, and collaborative communication with continuing education staff at other colleges, MCET instructors, and students.

The College of Southern Maryland conducts background checks to ensure safety and well-being. The final candidate will be subject to Criminal History Check and Sex Offender Registry Check.

This position is open until filled.

Responsibilities:
  1. 60% Reporting and Documentation
  • Manage registration processes for MCET classes.
  • Verify and input data, monitor sections, run reports, and update internal databases.
  • Monitor registration numbers across locations and update MCET database.
  • Confirm class status based on registration thresholds.
  • Coordinate registration information with colleges and trainers.
  • Handle MDE Grant funded registrations, maintain records, and process payments.
  • Prepare course materials for printing, including converting documents to PDFs.
  • Package all course and instructor materials, including handouts, tests, and certificates.
  • Monitor upcoming courses for timely delivery of materials.
  • Print reports and maintain backup documentation.
  • Maintain inventory of office supplies and update standard operating procedures.
  1. 30% Relationship Building and Management
  • Serve as primary contact for students, MDE employees, colleges, and the public.
  • Provide information on programs and training opportunities.
  • Maintain relationships with staff from Maryland Community Colleges.
  • Verify student course completions.
  • Coordinate with instructors on course materials and updates.
  • Communicate special print needs to the print shop.
  1. 5% Networking and Outreach
  • Attend events and conferences related to training and outreach.
  • Travel as needed to support instructors and students.
  1. 5% Research and Analysis
  • Stay informed about industry trends and best practices.
  • Assess course enrollment for planning and modifications.

Additional duties as assigned.

  • Associate degree required.
  • Minimum three years of administrative experience, with skills in multitasking, communication, stress management, attention to detail, and organization.
