Indy is seeking a Training and Staff Development Coordinator to lead the Marion Superior Court Youth Services Center Training Department. The role oversees onboarding, field training, certifications, continuing education, staff development, and leadership development.
You will supervise Field Training Officers, coordinate curricula, and ensure training standards are applied consistently. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for improving staff performance and retention.
The Training and Staff Development Coordinator is responsible for providing leadership and oversight to the Marion Superior Court Youth Services Center Training Department. This position directly supervises Field Training Officers and oversees employee onboarding, field training, required certifications, continuing education, staff development, and leadership development. The position works with facility leadership, supervisors, and Human Resources to strengthen employee preparedness, performance, professional growth, and retention. The position also serves as the facility authority regarding approved training standards and is responsible for ensuring those standards are consistently applied in daily operations.
Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, education, organizational leadership, public administration, or a related field and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in juvenile justice, corrections, residential youth services, or a similar environment, with demonstrated experience in employee training, staff development, supervision, or operational leadership;or a minimum of seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in one or more of these settings may be accepted in lieu of a degree. Prior supervisory experience is required.
Must be at least 25 years of age and possess strong leadership, organizational, interpersonal, presentation, written, and verbal communication skills. Demonstrated computer proficiency required.
Must obtain and maintain instructor-level certification in First Aid/CPR, Handle With Care (HWC), and Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), along with all other facility-required training, including PREA.
Must be able to work any shift, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
