Description:

Training Specialist: The hands-on role behind every training we deliver

180 Degrees believes great training builds great teams, and great teams change lives. As our Training Specialist, you bring our training plan to life by developing engaging, effective trainings in partnership with subject matter experts, so every employee stays equipped to do trauma-responsive work that matters. From new hire orientation to ongoing compliance, you make sure learning is always aligned with what our mission requires.

You build eTraining courses, record and edit engaging webinars, develop engaging PowerPoint presentations, and apply adult learning theory to create training with measurable, lasting impact. Working closely with subject matter experts, you turn policies, procedures, and statutes into dynamic eTrainings. You keep it all running on schedule with a well-maintained annual training calendar.

What you'll actually do:

  • Be the LMS Administrator for learning platforms, ensuring every requirement — licensing, funding, and internal policy — is met
  • Present at new employee orientation, setting the tone for how new hires experience 180 Degrees from day one
  • Record and edit webinars that keep learners' attention from start to finish
  • Apply adult learning theory to design trainings with measurable, positive outcomes
  • Develop trainings in partnership with subject matter experts, turning complex topics into clear, effective learning experiences
  • Maintain an annual training calendar covering compliance, policies, procedures, and more
  • Ensure every training stays true to the 180 Degrees brand, mission, and trauma-responsive philosophy.

Why 180 Degrees:

  • Be part of a mission-driven organization where training directly shapes the quality-of-care residents and families receive
  • Do hands-on training work that strengthens our entire team.
  • Gain hands‑on experience with eTraining tools, webinar production, orientation, training development, presentation skills, and LMS Administration
  • Make an impact that reaches every employee — and, through them, every person we serve

This role is for you if:
You know how to make training both compliant and effective. You're organized and detail-oriented, comfortable managing a training calendar, producing a polished webinar, and presenting at orientation — all in the same week. You believe checking the compliance box and building real understanding go hand in hand. And you want your work to directly strengthen the team doing life-changing work every day.

This is a full-time, onsite position (1.0 FTE, 40 hours/week). No direct reports, rather direct impact on how our team learns.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in instructional design, teaching, or related field and 3+ years' experience as a Training Specialist. An associates degree and relevant work experience can be substituted on a year-for-year basis.
  • Engaging presenter in a variety of settings including in-person, virtual, and eTraining.
  • One year experience as an LMS Administrator.
  • Valid driver's license and vehicle insurance; reliable transportation to commute to various 180 Degrees locations for meetings or trainings, including the Minneapolis location for new employee orientation; ability to drive Company vehicle without restrictions.
  • Ability to clear a Department of Human Services background screening.
  • Instructional design skills, curriculum development, and training evaluation.
  • Time management and project management skills.
  • Commitment to lifelong learning for self and others.
  • Inspires a spirit of learning across the 180 Degrees organization.
  • Experience in social services or human services field.
  • Foundational knowledge of DHS and DOC statutes; understanding of state and federal statutes; ability to read statutes and develop trainings based on the statutes.
  • Ability to work with Subject Matter Experts to develop trainings that meet all requirements.
  • Maintain current knowledge for training in social services and areas related to the field including trauma informed care, harm reduction, and cultural responsiveness.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team.
  • Experience with LMS Administration, including but not limited to generating reports and reading training data.
  • Cultural competence and commitment to the principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills including the Microsoft 365 suite of products.
  • Excellent organization with attention to detail and time management.
