Job summary

The Air Combat Command seeks a course director and curriculum specialist for the training management functional course within the 6th Combat Training Squadron's Formal Education and Training Program. This role focuses on instructional design and curriculum leadership in the Operational Training Development environment.

You will apply learning theory, design instructional materials, and coordinate with operations and support teams in OTD.

Job description

The primary purpose of this position is: To serve as a course director and curriculum specialist for the training management functional course director and curriculum specialist for the training management functional course in 6th Combat Training Squadron Formal Education and Training Program, Operational Training Development (OTD).

(CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT CON'T) Position may require extensive knowledge of IC4Xl, l3L,1C5X1, 13B, 14N, 1NOX1 AFSCs, US Joint Air/Land doctrine, Tactical Air Control Party and ASOC operations. Operational experience in the air to ground community. In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Training Instruction Series 1712. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes knowledge of a wide range of professional concepts, principles, methods, techniques, and practices of one or more specialties of the instructional systems field as well as of learning theory, gained through extended study, experience, and maintained currency with developing trends in the field of learning; Comprehensive knowledge of a wide variety of instructional development methods sufficient to conduct analysis to determine the requirements for revision of existing instructional systems or development of new training programs; Comprehensive knowledge of an extensive variety of instructional program planning methods and techniques sufficient to plan total support, i.e., personnel, equipment, facilities, budget, and other resource requirements. OR EDUCATION: Successfully completed Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION: Combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:

• 1. Professional knowledge of learning theory and the principles, methods, practices and techniques of the instructional systems field to administer, advise on, design, develop, or provide educational or training services in formal training programs.
• 2. Knowledge of and ability to follow foundational instructional design processes to analyze, research, design and write educationally sound instructional materials and instructor guides for use in classroom instruction and to construct and validate appropriate evaluation instruments to determine level and extent of student learning and achievement.
• 3. Knowledge of training resources programs, principles and policies.
• 4. Ability to establish instructional program objectives and to assess progress toward their achievement.
• 5. Ability to analyze problems related to instructional material or support equipment and develop timely and economical solutions such as develop finished products including lesson plans, training texts, television programs, programmed texts, or computer assisted instruction.
• 6. Previously certified Joint Terminal Attack Controller (JTAC) or Fighter Duty Technician (FDT), or Fighter Duty Officer (FDO), or Intel Officer/Enlisted, or Air Liaison Officer, or TDL instructor experience highly desired.
