Job summary

Air Force District of Washington seeks an Education and Training Technician to serve as the single point of contact for planning, administering, developing, and evaluating the training and education services program for Pentagon personnel. You will liaise with duty training managers and 811 FSS to coordinate training initiatives and schedules.

Job description

The primary purpose of this position is to be the single point of contact responsible for planning, administering, developing, and evaluating the training and education services program for all personnel assigned or attached to the Pentagon. Serves as liaison between additional duty training managers and 811 FSS regarding training.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Administrative Support Positions, for the GS-1702, Education and Training Technician Series.

SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE for Internal Candidates:

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-09, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes comprehensive knowledge of an extensive body of rules, concepts, techniques, procedures, principles, and practices of the education and training occupation programs to perform a wide variety of assignments involved in the development of academic training schedules for student classes which meet syllabus objectives; knowledge of the organization's operations and functions sufficient to evaluate information gathered from various sources and use basic analytical methods and techniques to determine adequacy of, or deficiencies in the schedule function.

OR EDUCATION:

Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., related degree from an accredited college or university. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

OR COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. NOTE: You must submit copies of your transcripts.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Internal Candidates:

Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-09 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-11 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.

FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: External Candidates:

  1. Extensive knowledge of Force Development training, testing and education services program processes, or similar processes in parallel business and industry organizations to manage and oversee a comprehensive training program.
  2. Knowledge of military organizational structure, protocol, and similar matters.
  3. Ability to plan, organize, direct, and guide various education and training functions and staff of a large sized military/civilian organization.
  4. Ability to plan and organize work, meet deadlines, communicate effectively, both orally and in writing using correct grammar, spelling, punctuation, format and with tact and courtesy.
