The Continuous Improvement, Staff Development and Engagement (CISDE) department provides campus wide financial systems training for staff who utilize the financial module of the Connect Carolina system (PeopleSoft), purchasing cards, web travel, time information management (TIM) system and customer billing management. The department provides the opportunity for faculty or staff who hold a Certified Public Accountant license the ability to earn continuing professional education credits through courses offered throughout the year. Within the division of Finance and Operations (F&O), CISDE facilitates continuous improvement through business process improvement, lean methodology and internal training programs. CISDE also coordinates leadership training, professional development and compliance and safety training for staff within F&O.
Hybrid: This position may be eligible for a hybrid work arrangement that may include a partially remote work location, consistent with System Office policy.
CISDE is a unit within the Service Center of Excellence (SCE), which supports the departments and staff within Finance and Operations (F&O). This position reports to the Director for Continuous Improvement, Staff Development, and Engagement (CISDE).
The Continuous Improvement and Organizational Development Specialist is responsible for developing a foundation for continuous improvement within our division and customer-base by identifying, organizing, and facilitating quality and process improvement projects. Duties include implementing Plan, Do, Check, Act (PDCA) or Plan Do Act Study (PDSA), conducting Root Cause Analysis (RCA), Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA), needs assessments, process mapping/documentation, and other change and process management activities. This position also provides guidance and support for the ongoing implementation and maintenance of lean six sigma projects to support identified key performance indicators (KPIs) and overall quality of services.
Bachelor's degree; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Considerable knowledge of business process improvement and project management theory and techniques needed as well as excellent analytical, interpretive, and listening skills, plus strong verbal and written communication skills.
Progressive experience in a training or teaching role including curriculum development, needs assessment, and session evaluation. Attention to detail and organization is critical in this role.
Ability to lead teams to timely, successful project completion, and to provide guidance and direction for staff and cross-functional teams.
Ability to perform and support advanced strategic planning to ensure overall unit and programs fulfill organizational goals.
Ability to manage an extremely diverse workload, work well with customers and business owners, and remain composed under pressure. It is necessary for the person in this position to be flexible, professional and cope well with change and uncertainty.
Must be able to stand for extended periods of time when facilitating training in-person.
Must be able to move furniture (with wheels) when necessary for classroom setup.
