Job summary

The Children’s Home of Reading is seeking a Training Specialist to coordinate and deliver pre-service and ongoing training for staff and foster families across two PA locations, Bethlehem and Doylestown. You will develop materials, track completion, and ensure ORR compliance.

Ideal candidates have a degree in education or human services, with experience in training coordination, adult learning, and proficiency in LMS and MS Office.

Qualifications

  • Must have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent in education, human services, adult learning, or related field.
  • Two or more years coordinating training or professional development, preferably in child welfare, behavioral health, or human services.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles and strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Must undergo ORR background investigations and complete required ORR training.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate scheduling and logistics for all pre-service and continuing education training.
  • Track and maintain training completion records for staff and foster families.
  • Develop and maintain training materials aligned with ORR and state licensing requirements.
  • Facilitate internal training sessions on program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate engagement of external trainers and subject matter experts.
  • Monitor staff and foster family compliance with training requirements.
  • Notify supervisors of training gaps or deadlines.
  • Support development of the annual training plan submitted for ORR review.
  • Coordinate with the Apis HR team on onboarding related to training.
  • Exercise independent judgment consistent with program policy and ORR requirements.
  • Communicate effectively with children, families, and staff.
  • Maintain regular attendance and respond to program needs, including after hours when required.

What You’ll Do

As a Training Specialist, you will:

  • Coordinates scheduling and logistics for all pre-service and continuing education training.
  • Tracks and maintains training completion records for staff and foster families.
  • Develops and maintains training materials consistent with ORR and state licensing requirements.
  • Facilitates internal training sessions on program policies and procedures.
  • Coordinates engagement of external trainers and subject matter experts.
  • Monitors staff and foster family compliance with pre-service and annual training requirements, as required and scheduled by ORR.
  • Notifies supervisors of training gaps or approaching deadlines.
  • Supports development of the annual training plan submitted for ORR review.
  • Coordinates with the Apis HR team on new-hire onboarding related to training requirements.
  • Exercise independent judgment consistent with program policy, ORR requirements, and applicable law.
  • Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, with children, families, and staff.
  • Maintain regular, reliable attendance and respond promptly to program needs, including outside standard business hours when required by the role.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Bachelor's degree in education, human services, adult learning, or a related field; OR equivalent combination of education and training coordination experience.
  • Two(2) or more years of experience coordinating training or professional development programs, preferably in child welfare, behavioral health, or human services.
  • Familiarity with adult learning principles.
  • Strong organizational and recordkeeping skills.
  • Proficiency with learning management systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Must exhibit integrity and good moral character appropriate for working with children in a residential or foster care setting.
  • Must successfully complete ORR-required background investigations.
  • Must complete ORR-required training applicable to this position's role and level of program responsibility, as required and scheduled by ORR.
  • Must sign and comply with CHOR's Code of Conduct consistent with ORR policy, confidentiality acknowledgment, and mandatory reporter agreement.
  • Must disclose any prior misconduct, including conduct occurring off duty, on the employment applications and in interviews. Material omissions are grounds for termination.

Schedule

  • Full-Time / Exempt
  • This position is based across two work locations, Bethlehem and Doylestown. The employee will be required to report to and work from both offices as necessary and assigned.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit at a meeting table or desk, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach, stoop, twist, climb steps, drive vehicle, and assist individuals as needed.
