Job summary

Charleston County Board of Elections seeks a Training Program Specialist to prepare poll managers for success and ensure smooth election operations. This role focuses on developing and delivering training, coordinating logistics, and maintaining reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in training platforms, content management systems, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Training Manager with planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of training programs for poll managers and staff, including logistics.
  • Conduct in-person and/or virtual training sessions with strong public speaking and writing skills.
  • Maintain online poll manager training platform, provide troubleshooting, and document for county reporting and reimbursement.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as answering phones, emails, data entry, and reporting compliance.
  • Oversee training checklists, materials, supplies, inventory, and distribution; audit after sessions.
  • Participate in meetings and outreach events; serve as a resource for staff.
  • Attend meetings, conferences, and training to stay current on relevant practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

HIRING SALARY: $40,227 - $52,665 (Estimated Annual Salary)

Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed for training events and during elections.

  • Assisting the Training Manager with the planning, creation, development, implementation, execution, and evaluation of training programs (both in-person and online) for poll managers, staff, board members, and/or internal staff. This includes coordinating and supporting all aspects of training logistics—before, during, and after sessions—such as arranging training spaces, scheduling, tracking attendance, managing passwords, preparing materials and supplies, and setting up and breaking down training sessions.
  • Conducting in-person and/or virtual poll manager training sessions, while demonstrating strong public speaking and writing skills.
  • Maintaining the county’s online poll manager training platform, providing prompt troubleshooting support, and ensuring accurate documentation from poll managers for county reporting and reimbursement purposes.
  • Performing administrative tasks such as answering phones, emails, filing, data entry, and reviewing reports for accuracy and compliance with reimbursement requirements.
  • Overseeing training checklists, preparing training materials and supplies, fulfilling supply orders, and maintaining inventory to ensure all necessary items are available for training sessions. Assisting with the distribution of materials and auditing training supplies to confirm all items are accounted for after each session.
  • Participating in team and department meetings, as well as outreach events, and serving as a knowledgeable resource for other staff members.
  • Attending meetings, conferences, workshops, and training sessions, and reviewing publications and audiovisual materials to stay current on principles, practices, and developments related to the role.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Communications, Education, Political Science, or a related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in training, team building/ group dynamics, or a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and inspire a diverse range of audiences.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiencyin training platforms, content management systems, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
