Job summary

PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD seeks a Training Instructor in the Lifting & Handling Department, Inspection, Test, QA & Training Division. You will prepare lessons and materials, delivering instruction to apprentices, tradespeople, engineers and technicians across the program.

You will develop and revise courses, integrate systematic requirements, and adjust training based on evaluations. A security clearance is required, and DoD employment rules apply for federal eligibility and benefits.

Qualifications

• One year of specialized experience at or equivalent to GS-09 in the Federal system or private/public sector.
• Experience presenting course material to diverse personnel (apprentices, engineers, technicians).
• Experience updating and improving courses based on evaluations and feedback.
• Experience applying engineering/technical concepts in instruction, including electrical training.

Qualifications
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following:

• Experience presenting course material to personnel to include apprentices, tradespeople, engineers, supervisors, and technicians keeping good class attendance and participation.
• Experience training and developing personnel and adjusting course material based on class evaluation criteria and performance.
• Experience updating, establishing, and improving assigned courses.
• Experience incorporating the latest developments and integrating subjects into instruction.
• Experience applying practical applications of engineering and trade theories through classroom instructions, demonstrations, and mock-up simulations to include experience in electrical training.
