This role delivers comprehensive Pre-Service and Specialty training to newly hired DCS staff and serves as an information liaison throughout onboarding and Pre-Service. Key Responsibilities
- Deliver Pre-Service training to new DCS employees, including fundamentals of child welfare; program-specific content for assigned service areas such as Child Protective Services, Foster Care, and Juvenile Justice; trauma-informed case management practices; the DCS Practice Model and Practice Wheel; self-care strategies; and motivational interviewing techniques.
- Teach the Practice Wheel components: Engagement, Teaming, Assessment, Planning, Implementation, Tracking, and Adjusting.
- Provide coaching and actionable feedback to new hires based on field observations and identified practice gaps.
- Proctor Pre-Service assessments and support evaluation processes.
- Participate in case panel presentations and, depending on location, Simulation Lab activities.
- Provide web-based technical assistance for virtual training delivery.
- Use Microsoft Teams and other digital platforms to conduct and support training sessions.
- Collaborate with training team members, program leadership, and regional leadership to ensure consistent, high-quality training content and delivery.
- Travel as required; mileage reimbursement will be available.
Minimum Qualifications
- At least one year of direct child welfare field experience, such as case management, investigations, foster care, or juvenile justice.
- At least one year of experience in training delivery, adult education, or staff development.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Teams and other virtual training tools.
- Strong communication, facilitation, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving training environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience delivering training in a government or human services setting.
- Certification or coursework in trauma-informed care, motivational interviewing, or adult learning principles.
Work Conditions
- Travel is required for in-person training, coaching sessions, and field observations.
- This is a hybrid role with both remote and on-site responsibilities.
