Job summary

CPKC is hiring a Conductor to join North America’s first transnational railroad, operating with a train crew to switch cars, move trains in yards, and ensure safety across outdoor environments. The job requires stamina, adaptability to 12‑hour shifts, and readiness for unscheduled overtime in a 24/7 setting.

CP KC provides extensive training: 15 weeks of paid in-class and field instruction, with classroom pay of $261.72 per day and $42.90 per hour on‑the‑job.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work, including lifting up to 80 pounds.
• Willingness to work unscheduled shift work in a 24/7 environment.
• Must be able to pass pre-employment requirements and read safety rules in English.

Responsibilities

• Work in train or yard service per seniority.
• Follow train routes and movements as instructed.
• Coordinate switching of cars and apply brakes and signals as needed.
• Observe and relay signals affecting train movement.
• Provide flag protection and relay signals in emergencies.
• Complete train orders and switch lists and prepare clear reports.
