Job summary

Canadian Pacific Kansas City (CPKC) is seeking a Conductor in the United States. You will join a train crew to switch rail cars, perform yard moves and car handling while upholding safety and operating rules.

The role offers clear career progression within a supportive, safety-driven culture. This position requires physical stamina and the ability to work unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 environment, often outdoors in varying weather.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work (walking up to 6 miles daily, lifting up to 80 pounds).
• Willingness to work unscheduled shift work in a 24/7 environment.
• Willingness to work long shifts (up to 12 hours) including nights, weekends and holidays.
• Ability to report to work within a 2-hour call window.
• Must be able to read and understand safety instructions and operating rules in English.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Work in train or yard service depending on seniority.
• Carry out instructions detailing a train's route and movements.
• Coordinate switching of cars, including coupling/uncoupling.
• Observe, interpret, and relay signals affecting movement of train.
• Signal crew members for movement using signals or radio.
• Maintain understanding of GCOR and bulletins.
• Provide flag protection and relay signals in emergencies.
• Move on/off moving or stationary equipment.
• Fill out forms including train orders and switch lists.
• Handle emergency situations and operate fire extinguishers and apply first aid.
