Job summary

CPKC is hiring a Conductor to join our rail operations, performing train and yard movements with a focus on safety and efficiency. The role requires readiness for unscheduled shifts and outdoor work in all weather conditions.

As you progress, opportunities exist to advance toward positions like Yard Foreperson or Locomotive Engineer, with on-the-job training and clear career pathways within a large North American network.

Qualifications

• Must be able to perform physically demanding work including walking up to 6 miles a day, lifting up to 80 pounds.
• Willingness to work unscheduled shifts in a 24/7 environment.
• Able to work up to 12 hour shifts including days, evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
• Must be at least 18 years old with a HS diploma or GED and a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Work in train or yard service based on seniority.
• Carry out route and movement instructions for a train.
• Coordinate switching of cars and lifting out coupling devices.
• Observe and relay signals affecting train movement.
• Signal crew for engine movement using signals or radio.
• Follow GCOR, general orders and bulletins.
