Job summary

North Central Utility, Inc. is seeking a hands-on Trailer Technician/Mechanic at our Mankato, MN location. Earn $20-$40 per hour with a $2,500 sign-on bonus paid in installments during the first 18 months of employment.

The role involves inspecting, repairing, and maintaining semi-trailers, performing DOT inspections, and fabricating parts. We offer benefits, 401(k) with match, and ongoing training in a safety-focused environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent preferred
• Basic set of tools and previous experience preferred
• Ability to meet the physical demands of the position.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot and repair semi-trailers
• Perform all aspects of trailer body and wreck repairs
• Diagnose and make recommendations to manager on repairs as required
• Air and electrical system diagnostics and repair
• Perform all types of welding (i.e. aluminum, mild steel, stainless)
• Fabricate or modify trailer body parts
• Maintain allocated time on all repairs and modifications
• Certified to conduct DOT inspections (or willing to become certified)
• Perform job assignments in accordance with DOT requirements and regulations
• All work processes will be electronically documented in the system
• Operate a scissor lift
• Follow company repair and safety best practices
• Maintain established company quality standards
• Maintain and promote a safe work environment
• Use and promote PPE and safety equipment
• Prepared and ready to work at the start of each shift
• Helpful and considerate to co-workers and customers
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and rules of conduct
• Maintain a clean and safe work area at all times
• Assist other technicians, Service Manager, and Shop Foreman as needed

We offer reefer, dry van and flatbed trailers from Utility Trailer Manufacturing at all locations and vocational trailers from MAC Trailers in Wisconsin. Our service department offers everything from routine maintenance, certified DOT inspections to precision laser alignment, as well as complete wreck repair for trailers of all makes and models. No job is too big or too small for our skilled service technicians.
