Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician in Illinois to keep fleet equipment safe and running through preventive maintenance, repairs, and diagnostics. The role emphasizes hands-on work, compliance with industry standards, and a collaborative, safety‑driven team environment.

The technician will read precision instruments, diagnose faults, perform repairs, and may weld as necessary. A high school diploma and own tools are required, with a valid CDL where applicable.

Qualifications

• Education: High School degree or equivalent.
• Experience: Experience working as a maintenance technician or equivalent education.
• Experience with truck repair, body and frame repair.
• Must provide own tools to perform job duties.
• Ability to complete required paperwork and records.
• Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (when required).
• Reading precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multi-meters, calibrators and other electronic diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Build, rebuild and repair all parts of company equipment as may be required in the department.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical or other breakdowns to a motor truck or related equipment.
• Read precision instruments and diagnostic tools.
• Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of components on trucks or trailers.
• Weld as needed to complete truck repairs.
• Comply with DOT, EPA, ICC, OSHA rules and regulations.
