Job summary

Quality Repair Solutions (QRS) is seeking a Trailer Mechanic in Thatcher, AZ to diagnose, repair and maintain semi-truck trailers and tractors, using service trucks and following DOT, federal and state regulations. Tasks include brake work, tire changes, electrical troubleshooting, and more with accurate maintenance logging.

The role requires at least 1 year of relevant experience, a high school diploma or equivalent (or vocational training), and the ability to work Monday–Friday with

• At least 1 year of experience with diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• At least 1 year of experience with tractor and trailer maintenance and DOT regulations.
• High school diploma or equivalent or equivalent vocational school.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
• Perform annual/systematic 90 day inspections on trailers as required.
• Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
• Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
• Identify parts and supplies as needed.
• Adhere to safety and environmental policies (OSHA) and proper disposal of hazardous waste.
• Keep the work area clean and maintain equipment longevity and safety.
• Utilize welding equipment.
• Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned.

Job Details

Job Summary:

Responsible for diagnosing, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors, including tasks like brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, all while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations; general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Uses technical publications or automated systems in maintaining vehicles to prescribed manufacturers’ maintenance schedules and for researching parts. Properly annotates all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Requirements

Skills and Abilities:

• Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of equipment theory, principles and repair relating to diesel engines, air, and electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
• Must possess at least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent vocational school required.
• At least 1 year related experience required.

Additional Job Information

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position, and days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, hours depend on location.

• The shop has a climate similar to outdoor weather. Frequent exposure to loud machinery, air tool operation, hammering and engine noise.

• Able to fit into a 20” cargo trailer dome opening.
