Job summary

Quality Repair Solutions (QRS®) is seeking a Trailer Mechanic in Ono, PA to diagnose, repair, and perform preventative maintenance on semi-truck trailers and tractors. You will work from a service truck, perform brake/dial maintenance, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, and basic structural repairs while following DOT and company standards.

Qualifications include at least 1 year of experience with diesel and hydraulic systems and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

  • At least 1 year of experience with diesel engine, air, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic systems.
  • Knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance and DOT rules is required.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
  • Perform annual/systematic 90-day inspections of trailers as required.
  • Ensure equipment meets FHWA standards.
  • Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop.
  • Identify parts and supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to safety and environmental policies, including hazardous waste handling.
  • Maintain clean and safe work environment.
  • Use welding equipment.

Job Summary

Responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on semi‑truck trailers and tractors, including tasks such as brake adjustments, tire replacements, electrical troubleshooting, basic structural repairs, and more, while working out of a service truck and adhering to strict safety regulations. Perform general repairs on tractor and trailer units in accordance with DOT, federal and state regulations and company standards. Use technical publications or automated systems to maintain vehicles to prescribed manufacturer maintenance schedules and research parts. Properly annotate all maintenance and labor performed in maintenance management software.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and repair tractors and trailers.
  • Perform annual/systematic 90‑day inspections of trailers as required.
  • Ensure equipment meets Federal FHWA standards.
  • Operate a yard hostler truck to move trailers within the facility yard and the shop as needed.
  • Identify parts and supplies as needed.
  • Adhere to all established safety (OSHA) and environmental policies and standards, including handling or disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Clean, organize, and maintain the work environment to ensure equipment longevity and workplace safety.
  • Use welding equipment.
Requirements
Skills and Abilities
  • At least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of equipment theory, principles and repair related to diesel engines, air, electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic systems.
  • At least 1 year of experience with general knowledge of tractor and trailer maintenance, DOT rules and regulations, company policies and procedures.
Education and Experience
  • High school diploma or equivalent, or vocational school requirement.
  • At least 1 year related experience required.
Position Type / Expected Hours of Work
  • This is a full‑time position; Monday through Friday, hours depend on location.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to push, pull, or lift up to 75 lbs.
  • Able to fit into a 20” cargo trailer dome opening.
  • Ability to meet safety standards for fall protection harness – max weight 310 lbs. (includes all PPE worn)
  • Use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, or controls.
  • Stand for long periods of time.
  • Walk for long periods of time.
  • Bend or twist the body.
  • See differences between colors, shades, and brightness.
