Lumentum in San Jose seeks a Sr. Principal Engineer for silicon photonics – hybrid integration. Lead high-volume process flows to fuse III-V with silicon, enabling PIC performance for AI, cloud, and data-center applications.

You will collaborate with wafer fabs, test teams, and process engineers to ensure chip solutions meet customer specs, while driving yield, cost efficiency, and innovation across the photonics platform.

Qualifications

• PhD in Electrical Engineering or Physics or equivalent
• Experience with IC and photonic IC integration methods
• Strong background in photonic device fabrication and test analysis
• Excellent oral and written English communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop III-V to SiPho hybrid integration process flows within the PIC team
• Collaborate with wafer fabrication partners and back-end teams to meet specs and tolerances
• Design verification plans and analyze engineering measurements for high-volume manufacturing
• Promote continuous improvement to optimize performance and cost efficiency
