Job summary

Biltmore Company in Asheville, NC invites an experienced Trail Guide to join our equestrian program. You will care for trail horses, assist with feedlots and tack maintenance, and help prepare mounts for daily rides, while prioritizing guest safety and a world-class guest experience.

The role requires HS diploma or GED, 1 year of equestrian experience (2 years leading rides preferred), strong communication, CPR/AED/First Aid certification, and a valid driver's license.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; further equestrian training preferred.
• At least 1 year of related equestrian experience.
• 2 years of experience leading trail rides and working with riders of all levels.
• Knowledgeable in equestrian care; able to identify and troubleshoot health issues.
• Commitment to delivering world-class guest service.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with guests and vendors.
• Must obtain First Aid, CPR and AED certification.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be 18+.

Responsibilities

• Select and catch appropriate horses each day.
• Inspect horses daily for soreness or health concerns.
• Prepare mounts and lead trail rides for guests.
• Inspect the trail and correct hazards or report to supervisor.
• Greet guests and check in with ticket host.
• Clean saddles and tack as needed.
• Maintain preparedness for emergencies on trail or at barn.
• Remove manure and debris throughout the day.
• Feed and water trail horses per schedule.
• Complete incident reports when needed.
• Support Carriage Program staff to keep guest areas clean and inviting.
