Job summary

Biltmore in Asheville, NC seeks Trail Guides to support world-class equestrian experiences. The role covers horse care, saddling, and leading trail rides while ensuring guest safety and satisfaction.

Hours are ~20–29 per week, Friday–Monday with 7:45am–6:15pm shifts; weekend availability required. A HS diploma and 1+ year of equestrian experience are expected, with First Aid/CPR certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma (or GED). Additional education, training, and/or certification related to the equestrian field preferred.
  • At least one year of related equestrian experience; two years ideal.
  • Knowledgeable in equestrian care; able to anticipate and troubleshoot health issues.
  • Commitment to world-class guest service; strong communication with guests and vendors.
  • Must obtain First Aid, AED and CPR certification; valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Select and catch appropriate horses to work each day.
  • Inspect each horse daily for soreness or health concerns; seek advice as needed.
  • Prepare mounts and lead trail rides for guests according to schedule.
  • Inspect the trail regularly for hazards and report or correct as needed.
  • Check in with the ticket host and warmly greet guests on arrival.
  • Clean saddles and tack as needed.
  • Be prepared to respond to emergencies on trail or at the barn.
  • Remove manure and debris from mounting corral, feedlot and barn area.
  • Feed and water trail horses according to the daily plan.
  • Complete incident reports and forward to Human Resources.
  • Support Carriage Program staff to keep guest areas clean and inviting.
