Job summary

The State of North Carolina – Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineer I to review and develop Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) for diverse highway projects. The role involves coordinating with internal design units, private engineering firms, and stakeholders to ensure constructability, safety, and mobility for all road users.

You will assist field engineers, evaluate work zone strategies, and support the Project Delivery initiative.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Registration as a professional engineer preferred.
• Experience with highway construction plans and traffic management principles.

Responsibilities

• Develop Transportation Management Plans (TMPs) for projects.
• Review TMP submittals and coordinate with design units, PEFs, and stakeholders.
• Assist field engineers and perform work zone safety reviews.
• Support Project Delivery initiatives and scheduling.
