Job summary

Delaware Department of Transportation is seeking an Engineering/Planning/Surveying Technician II/III to support infrastructure projects. The role involves inspecting plans, data collection, and applying surveying and CAD tools to document compliance and assist design efforts.

Ideal candidates will have experience with intelligent transportation systems and data entry, plus a valid driver's license. The position requires adherence to safety and regulatory standards as part of daily operations.

Qualifications

• Six months experience in applied mathematical computations.
• Six months experience in interpreting construction plans and details, schematics or technical drawings.
• Knowledge of using intelligent transportation systems for traffic management.
• Knowledge of developing and evaluating traffic management solutions for events and incidents.
• Knowledge of evaluating traffic control methods and devices including signs or pavement markings.
• Knowledge of using an automated information system to enter, update, modify, delete, retrieve and report data.
• Possession of a valid Drivers License.

Responsibilities

• Inspects infrastructures to ensure compliance with plans, safety, and codes; documents findings.
• Designs/reviews engineering project layouts, alignments, profiles, studies, and maps.
• Records notes, sketches, test results, and inspection data for compliance or designs.
• Conducts studies to analyze needs or develop plans and related activities.
• Performs data analysis to verify data accuracy and develop recommendations.
• Tests materials or designs to verify contracts and specs.
• Obtains survey data using surveying tools and equipment.
• Calculates area, volumes, geometry, and testing dimensions for projects.
• Operates CAD tools and uses software to manage data entries and reports.
• Reads plans, specifications, blueprints, and other engineering documents.
• Performs other related duties as required.
