Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree, or higher, in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another closely related degree.
• Driver's license.
• Be currently enrolled and actively working toward graduating with a bachelor’s degree, within 6 months of the opening date of this job announcement, in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or another closely related degree.

Responsibilities

• Reviews and analyzes data from traffic studies to evaluate results and determine interventions for traffic and roadway safety issues.
• Prepares, monitors, and administers departmental budget within annual limits.
• Communicates with coworkers, agencies, private contractors and the public to solve traffic flow problems.
• Operates and maintains central traffic computer operations and signal systems to ensure safe traffic flow.
• Oversees the design of traffic control systems using civil engineering practices and standards.
• Plans and oversees traffic studies to investigate issues like signs, lighting, warrants, zones, and crossings.
• Reviews and processes permit requests to minimize traffic disruptions.
• Supervises staff by assigning work, training, and providing feedback.
