Job summary

The City of Omaha is seeking a Traffic Signal Technician I to install, maintain, repair and test traffic signal systems and components in the shop and in the field. You will receive assignments orally or by work orders and collaborate with a team under supervision.

Required: high school diploma and two years related repair/traffic maintenance work; preferred coursework in electrical or computer hardware; valid Class B CDL with N and air brake; IMSA Level I within 18 months.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent and two years of related experience.
• Enrollment or completion of coursework in Electric/Electronic/Computer hardware preferred.
• Must possess a Class B CDL with N and air brake endorsements by end of probationary period.
• Must acquire IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I within 18 months.

Responsibilities

• Install, upgrade, maintain, and repair traffic signal systems and components.
• Check and adjust traffic controller timing programs.
• Use computers and mobile devices to investigate controller problems.
• Locate underground cables and signal assets; create as-built records.
• Document and report work completed.
