Job summary

The City of St. Charles seeks a Traffic Signal and Lighting Technician in the Public Works department. This full-time, non-exempt role performs installation, repair, and maintenance of city traffic signals, street lighting, and related electrical systems.

Responsibilities include diagnostic testing, emergency repairs, and coordinating traffic control at job sites and events. Requires CDL-A, electrical knowledge, and proficiency with Office tools; on-call and overtime are required.

Qualifications

• Experience troubleshooting traffic signal and street lighting systems.
• Ability to diagnose electrical problems in traffic control devices.
• Comfort with safety procedures and PPE use.
• Attention to detail in maintaining records and inventory.

Responsibilities

• Install, repair, and maintain city traffic signals, street lighting, and related devices.
• Perform diagnostic testing and routine/urgent repairs on electrical systems.
• Provide guidance for traffic control at city sites and events.
• Maintain inventory of parts and tools for traffic control devices and lighting.
• Maintain records and service manuals for work orders.
• Pursue training and certifications to improve technical knowledge.
