Job summary

City of Carrollton is seeking a Signal Technician to assist in installation, repair, and maintenance of electronically controlled traffic signals, arterial lighting, and school zone flashers. Work is performed under limited supervision and includes responding to emergencies and training signal crew members.

Qualified candidates will have basic electronic knowledge, ability to read schematics, and proficiency in safety practices.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year of related traffic signal installation experience preferred.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, schematics, and MUTCD/NEC standards.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams and technical manuals.
• Capability to replace electrical components and perform routine maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic control devices and street lighting.
• Respond to emergencies involving signals and flashers; coordinate with supervisor.
• Program and configure message boards for events or emergencies.
• Inspect signal equipment at intersections to ensure proper operation.
• Complete daily work orders and maintain maintenance records.
