Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED and post-secondary technical training in electrical/electronics/networking (≥30 credit hours) or completion of the department's traffic signal and lighting apprenticeship program.
• One year of signal and lighting field experience.
• Passing CDL written test with tanker endorsement and Class B interstate status within 60 days of hire.
• Successful completion of a work simulation and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Assists on emergency calls, such as malfunctioning equipment and crashes involving signals, lighting, ITS, aviation and navigational lighting, and communications systems, and takes appropriate action.
• Assists in the investigation of customer service reports regarding signal and lighting operations and other electronic/electrical traffic control devices and reports findings.
• Responds to routine utility locates requests from Missouri One Call.
• Assists in the installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signal equipment, radio communication equipment, ITS, roadway, aviation and navigational lighting, and other electronic/electrical devices.
• Assists in interpreting signal circuit plans and schematics for troubleshooting problems with electronic/electrical components.
