Job summary

MoDOT in Kansas City, MO is seeking a traffic signal and lighting technician to install, maintain and repair traffic signals, roadway lighting, and related ITS equipment under supervision.

The position offers three career ladder levels with starting salaries at entry, an Intermediate starting salary of $52,511.52 and a Senior starting salary of $56,712.48, with shifts 6:30AM-3:00PM and 3:30PM-12:00AM, and a $1/hr premium on the second shift.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED/HiSET plus post-secondary training in electrical/electronics or networking (30 credit hours or 1 year) or complete the department's apprenticeship.
• One year of signal and lighting field experience.
• Passing grade on CDL written exam; tanker endorsement; Class B; interstate status within 60 days.
• Successful completion of a work simulation and a medical-physical examination.

Responsibilities

• Assists on emergency calls involving signals, lighting, ITS, and related equipment.
• Assists in investigation of customer service reports related to signal and lighting operations.
• Responds to routine utility locates requests from Missouri One Call.
• Assists in installation, repair, and maintenance of traffic signal equipment and related devices.
• Assists in interpreting signal circuit plans and schematics for troubleshooting.
