Job summary

Unified Government of Athens-Clarke County is seeking a Sign & Marking Worker I to install, maintain, and repair traffic signs and pavement markings. Responsibilities include fabricating, erecting signs, painting intersections, installing traffic counters, and assisting with various related tasks. The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent with related experience, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to work a 6:00 a.m.

– 4:30 p.m. schedule with potential on-call rotations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 1 year of sign/marking or related experience.
• Must possess a valid Driver's License.
• Ability to read maps and sign/work orders; follow MU Traffic Control Devices.

Responsibilities

• Assist in installing, fabricating, and maintaining signs and pavement markings.
• Assist in placing computerized traffic counters.
• Operate jet blaster, paint roller, and sign equipment as directed.
• Load materials and maintain shop areas.
• Paint intersections, railroad crossings, and curbs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
