Job summary

City of Alexandria is seeking a Sign and Marking Specialist, Traffic to install, replace, and maintain all traffic signs and markings within the city. Duties include painting, setting up barricades, and coordinating traffic control for events, under supervision of the Superintendent, Traffic.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, valid Louisiana driver’s license, and certifications in IMSA Work Zone Safety and Signs and Marking Level I.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; 1 year street maintenance/traffic signs experience preferred.
• Valid Louisiana driver’s license; must obtain Class D within 1 month of hire.
• IMSA Work Zone Safety certification due within 6 months; Signs and Marking Level I certification within 1 year.

Responsibilities

• Performs technical tasks to install, replace, and maintain traffic signs and markings.
• Paints and marks parking lots, curbs, and crosswalks; maintains visibility at street signs.
• Sets up barricades, detours, and traffic control for special events; assists in closing streets.
