Qualifications

  • Two years of college in an electrical-related field plus 30 months of engineering experience or six years of troubleshooting electrical systems.
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel districtwide.
  • Ability to read plans, electrical drawings, timing sheets and manuals.

Responsibilities

  • Repairs electrical traffic control devices and pump systems properly and efficiently.
  • Evaluates the operational status of traffic control equipment and pump systems.
  • Keeps abreast of current developments in electronic equipment relating to traffic control devices and pump systems.
  • Documents all emergency repairs and scheduled routine maintenance activities performed.
  • Performs proper corrective repairs for emergency calls on all electronic devices.
  • Assists and coordinates contractual maintenance work.
  • Checks and evaluates all conflict monitors and railroad pre-emptors on a routine basis.
  • Performs routine and preventive maintenance on traffic signal controllers.
  • Develops and implements various traffic signal timing programs.
  • Performs duties in compliance with departmental safety rules and fair treatment of employees.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
