Job summary

The City of Baltimore is seeking a Traffic Safety Manager to plan, organize, and coordinate traffic safety programs for the city. You will supervise staff and work with administrative leadership, with occasional evenings or weekend commitments and 24-hour call-back for emergencies.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree and five years of experience in traffic safety, including two years in supervisory duties such as performance evaluations and personnel decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Five years of experience developing and implementing a traffic safety program for a large municipality.
• Supervisor experience including disciplining, evaluating performance and recommending hiring/firing/promoting.
• Ability to attend evenings or weekend meetings and respond to emergencies.
• Background check and six-month probation.
• Education credentials from US-accredited institutions; US equivalency if education obtained abroad.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, and coordinate traffic safety programs for Baltimore City.
• Supervise traffic safety personnel and ensure program effectiveness.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
• Develop promotional programs and marketing strategies for traffic safety.
• Write grants and reports to support program funding.
