Project Engineer - Traffic

This position will allow you to work on a diverse mix of transportation engineering projects and is well suited for a candidate that is seeking to begin or advance their career in the transportation engineering field. We are looking for someone who works well in a team environment, is able to research and analyze applicable data, able to work independently and looking to develop their technical and professional skills through challenging hands‑on tasks. The ideal candidates will have a minimum of 1-2 years’ experience (ideally 3+ years). A traffic engineering background is essential to the role, and you will work with traffic leaders and be involved in studies towards determining project feasibility from toll revenue perspective and participate in traffic modeling tasks to provide support to the Director of Traffic and Revenue.

Responsibilities

• Perform diverse tasks such as data collection and analysis; drawing take-off and estimates; RFP analysis; assist with drafting of technical documentation; participate in bid pricing and seeking subcontractor pricing;
• Participate in highway bids
• Manage traffic data collection, perform traffic data analysis
• Review, develop and manage traffic models
• Be focused on project specific traffic analysis and reporting, with the goal of having a better understanding of the traffic behavior and trends, with a view to optimize toll revenue;
• Assist with the management of LTA (Lenders’ Technical Advisor) role, offering technical oversight of design, construction, and O&M driven risks with a view to mitigating lender concerns.
• Assist in the preparation of the bidding technical proposals.
• Schedule technical department’s tasks and milestones.
• Review and analyze technical information from the design and build joint venture.
• Assist with the review of technical drawings from the design and build joint venture.
• Help prepare cost estimates and quantity take-offs from the construction drawing plans.
• Liaise with the Lender Technical Advisor (LTA): Highlight technical questions to lenders regarding design, build, operations, and maintenance.
• Flexibility and capacity to work under time pressure and constraints
• Excellent oral and written communication and strong interpersonal skills; leadership skills
• Ability to develop working relationships with colleagues, advisors, contractors, etc. across office locations and time zones
• Excellent skills in using excel
• Ability to read plans
• Ability to work independently
• Must have commercial acumen
• Must have an assertive personality and manage date-driven project deadlines
• Available to travel from time to time
• All Microsoft programs (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Qualifications

• Traffic Engineering education/experience
• B.S. Civil Engineering or related technical degree (Master degree with a focus on Traffic Engineering is a plus)
