Job summary

Cobb County Government is seeking a Traffic Management Coordinator to coordinate with construction managers and engineers to minimize roadway impacts and to manage traveler information systems used to communicate traffic conditions to the traveling public. The role focuses on timely alerts, accident reporting, and system-wide coordination.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Systems Engineering, Communications, or related field; supplemented by three years progressively responsible experience in automated traffic control and traffic monitoring systems; or equivalent combination.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with construction managers and traffic engineers on major projects to minimize roadway impacts and manage temporary lane closures.
• Communicate traffic alerts to emergency services, county administrators, and the traveling public; report accidents and provide details on construction, delays, detours and events.
• Assist signal timing staff with timing or re-timing of intersections and troubleshoot traffic control.
• Participate in transportation management systems projects, tests, evaluations, and implementation planning.
