Job summary

Dewberry in Fairfax, VA is seeking a Traffic Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Transportation Group. You will work under a licensed professional engineer on traffic-related design and studies including signals, signing, markings, work zones, ITS, and roadway lighting.

This internship provides hands-on project experience, exposure to real client projects, and opportunities to participate in workshops and group projects within a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering with an emphasis in transportation.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Experience using CADD (MicroStation or AutoCAD).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Assist licensed engineer on traffic engineering design and studies (signals, signing, markings).
• Support ITS, CAV, traffic operations analyses, and roadway lighting tasks.
