Job summary

Dewberry is seeking a Traffic Engineering Intern for Summer 2027 to join our Transportation Group in Fairfax, VA. This position offers hands-on project experience and the opportunity to work under the guidance of licensed engineers.

Interns will contribute to traffic signals, signing, pavement markings, ITS, and safety analyses while developing technical skills and professional relationships in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a B.S. in Civil Engineering with emphasis in transportation.
• Previous internship experience preferred.
• Experience using CADD (MicroStation or AutoCAD).
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direction of licensed professional engineer on traffic engineering design and studies.
• Involve traffic signals, signing and pavement markings, work zone traffic control, ITS, and CAV technology.
• Assist with roadway lighting, traffic operational analyses, and safety analyses.
