Westwood Professional Services in Fort Worth, TX is seeking a Traffic Engineering Intern to join our traffic engineering team. You will assist with signal design, traffic studies, and roadway safety projects for municipalities, counties, DOTs, and other public agencies.

This role provides hands-on experience applying coursework to real-world projects and learning industry-standard design software under senior engineer guidance.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate Civil Engineering program or related field.
• Effective verbal and written communication; professional client interaction.
• Willingness to learn in a flexible, cross-disciplinary environment.
• Willingness to attend site visits and perform outdoor fieldwork.
• Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Responsibilities

• Assist with collection and analysis of traffic data for studies.
• Prepare and check drawings using AutoCAD Civil3D, MicroStations, or OpenRoads.
• Support development of signal timing plans and traffic control plans.
• Help develop traffic impact studies and capacity analyses.
• Coordinate with team members and interface with clients and agencies.
• Travel to project sites for field observations.
