Job summary

WSP USA invites students to join its Transportation & Infrastructure Team as a Full-Time Traffic Engineering Intern in Valhalla, NY. The 12-week summer internship runs from May 17, 2027, offering practical exposure to real projects and mentorship from senior staff within the Developing Professionals Network.

Eligible candidates are enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate traffic engineering program, must be 18+, and should show interest in traffic engineering with strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in an accredited Traffic Engineering or related undergraduate program with imminent graduation Aug 2027 or later.
• Must be 18+ years old.
• Demonstrated interest in Traffic Engineering and ability to advance skills for WSP projects.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills for engineering and non-engineering audiences.
• Ability to take direction from leadership and mentors to execute projects.
• Basic proficiency with technical writing, office software, and typical tools.
• Authorized to work in the United States at internship start.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Traffic Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and safety policies.
