Job summary

WSP USA invites applications for a full-time Traffic Engineering Intern in New York City. This 12-week summer internship is designed for students currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate Civil Engineering program and will run from May 17, 2027, with a flexible start date for individual circumstances.

Interns participate in a mentored program within the NYC Traffic Engineering and ITS Team, gaining exposure to real projects, field work, and preliminary design calculations, and

Qualifications

• Actively enrolled in Civil Engineering undergraduate program with an anticipated graduation date December 2027 or later.
• Must be 18 or older.
• Demonstrated interest in Traffic Engineering/Transportation and desire to advance skills related to WSP’s work.

Responsibilities

• Support a variety of engineering tasks with the goal to develop technical, social, and ethical skills.
• Learn basic principles of Traffic Engineering.
• Assist with project research, field work, and preliminary design calculations and analysis.
• Support preparation of final design plans, special provisions, and cost estimates.
• Assist in collecting and maintaining project documentation.
• Complete training on assigned tasks.
• Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
