Job summary

Wooster & Associates seeks a Director of Traffic Engineering to lead and grow our traffic engineering practice. This role blends practice ownership, business development, client and agency relationships, and organizational leadership.

The position requires senior engineering leadership, setting strategy, ensuring technical excellence, and mentoring a growing team across multi-state projects. Hybrid work from Pittsburgh preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and a PE license are required.
• 12+ years of traffic engineering and transportation consulting experience.
• Proven leadership at a practice/department level with a track record of growing a client base.
• Expertise with Synchro, SimTraffic, SIDRA, HCS.
• Executive-level communication and client relationship skills.

Responsibilities

• Own strategic direction, growth targets, and P&L for the traffic practice.
• Lead, mentor, and develop engineers, designers, PMs, and future leaders.
• Set technical standards and QA across the practice.
• Maintain senior-level relationships with developers, municipalities, and agencies.
• Provide executive oversight of TIS, TIA, and transportation planning projects.
• Lead proposal strategy, fee structuring, and contract negotiations.
• Represent the firm as senior spokesperson at public meetings and industry events.
• Partner with leadership on firm-wide growth decisions.
