Job summary

Traffic Planning & Design is seeking engineers at all levels in New Jersey to lead and contribute to traffic planning and design projects. The role emphasizes coordinating with multidisciplinary teams and managing client expectations while delivering high-quality infrastructure solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required.
• PE license in NJ required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• PTOE certification desirable.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• NJDOT experience desirable.
• Proficient with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Strong work ethic and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Manage projects, staff and clients.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on traffic-related design tasks (work zone, intersections, traffic signals, signing, pavement markings).
• Assist in preparation of specifications, plans, schedules, permits and designs.
• Assist with traffic/parking studies, corridor planning, feasibility studies, and safety audits.
• Coordinate with field inspection staff and serve as on-site project representative.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage projects, staff and clients.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as work zone traffic, intersection design, traffic signal design, roadway signing and pavement marking plans, DOT access permitting, control plans and traffic signal operations analysis.
• Assist in the preparation specifications, plans, construction schedules, impact studies, permits, and designs for projects.
• Assist with traffic/parking studies, corridor planning, feasibility studies, and safety audits.
• Coordinate with field inspection staff and serve as an on-site project representative.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in NJ required (or ability to obtain within first 6 months)
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) desirable
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience with design standards, NJDOT experience (desirable)
• Knowledge of CADD Software (MicroStation and/or AutoCAD)
• Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet multiple deadlines
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid Driver’s License

Salary Range: $90,000 - $110,000 (depending on qualifications)
