Job summary

Traffic Planning & Design, Inc. (TPD) is seeking engineers at all levels in Melville, NY.

The ideal candidate will have 4–8 years of civil engineering experience, a strong work ethic, and a collaborative mindset to work on multiple projects in a creative, flexible and supportive environment. Responsibilities include managing projects, staff and clients; working with multi-disciplinary teams on work zone traffic, intersection design, signal design, and roadway signing/pavement marking plans; and

Qualifications

• Require PE license in NY or ability to obtain within 6 months
• Experience with NYSDOT/NYCDOT/CTDOT/NJDOT desirable
• Knowledge of design standards and multi-disciplinary teamwork
• Strong communication and ability to manage multiple projects

Responsibilities

• Manage projects, staff and clients.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on traffic/roadway design tasks.
• Assist in preparation of specifications, plans, schedules, permits and designs.
• Assist with traffic/parking studies, corridor planning and safety audits.
• Coordinate with field inspection staff and serve as on-site project representative.

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Manage projects, staff and clients.
• Work with multi-disciplinary teams on tasks such as work zone traffic, intersection design, traffic signal design, roadway signing and pavement marking plans, DOT access permitting, control plans and traffic signal operations analysis.
• Assist in the preparation specifications, plans, construction schedules, impact studies, permits, and designs for projects.
• Assist with traffic/parking studies, corridor planning, feasibility studies, and safety audits.
• Coordinate with field inspection staff and serve as an on-site project representative.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Engineering (PE) license in NY required (or ability to obtain within first 6 months)
• Professional Traffic Operations Engineer (PTOE) desirable
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Experience with design standards, NYSDOT/NYCDOT/CTDOT/NJDOT experience (desirable)
• Knowledge of CADD Software (MicroStation or AutoCAD)
• Strong work ethic and ability to work on multiple projects and ability to meet multiple deadlines
• Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Valid Driver’s License

Salary Range: $90,000 - $120,000
