Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey invites applications for a Traffic Engineer within the Engineering/Architecture Design Division. The role focuses on transportation planning and traffic design for redevelopment, capital projects, and major programs, with collaboration across PA staff and consultants to meet standards and guidelines.

This position is located at 4WTC and involves developing and reviewing traffic-related scopes, budgets, and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• Progress toward or attainment of Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification is desirable.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and proficiency with Office software.
• Valid Driver's License.

Responsibilities

• Prepare contract drawings, technical specifications and cost estimates; prepare Traffic Management plans and MOT documents; audit traffic engineering designs.
• Apply knowledge of traffic design, ITS, signing, striping, and roadway facilities planning.
• Assess traffic operations, signal systems, access management, ITS, and asset data to design countermeasures.
• Perform transportation planning tasks including data collection, capacity analysis, design and forecasting.
• Contribute to safety studies and performance evaluation; support scopes, budgets, and schedules.
• Maintain records of project agreements, finances, and documents.
