Job summary

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is seeking a Senior Traffic Engineer to provide oversight for transportation management planning on Regional and TB&T projects. This role is based at 4 World Trade Center and involves close coordination with Federal, State, and local agencies.

You will lead traffic engineering design, manage staff and consultants, prepare scopes of work, budgets, and schedules, and contribute to conceptual traffic design plans and analyses to improve traffic flow

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil/Transportation Engineering or Urban Planning from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum seven years of progressively responsible experience in Traffic Engineering including traffic planning studies or simulations, operations, data analytics, and cost estimates.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to lead, manage, and prioritize multiple assignments.
• Proficiency with software such as MS Excel/Word/PowerPoint, AutoCAD, and traffic analysis software.
• Working knowledge of MUTCD and AASHTO Green Book.
• Valid Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical and programmatic oversight for Transportation Management Plans and coordinate with PA stakeholders.
• Lead traffic engineering design, planning, and construction support for projects and redevelopment programs at PA facilities.
• Manage staff and consultants, ensuring designs meet standards and budgets.
• Develop and manage traffic-related scopes, budgets, schedules, and cost estimates; review consultant work.
• Apply traffic operations concepts, ITS, access management, and countermeasures to improve flow and safety.
• Participate in internal and external meetings.
• Prepare staff cost estimates and review consultant proposals.
• Develop and maintain records of project agreements, finances, and reports.
