Job summary

RoadSafe Traffic Systems is seeking a Traffic Control Technician II in Roanoke, VA. The role involves setting up and taking down lane closures, directing traffic for workers, and delivering safety products to job sites.

You will operate trucks, drive MOT and TMA vehicles, place signs, set up cones, and monitor work zones. The position requires 1–3 years of experience with 2,000 field hours, a valid driver's license, ability to pass background and drug tests, and DOT compliance.

Qualifications

• Valid Driver's License is required.
• 1-3 years of experience and 2,000 field hours in traffic control.
• Pass a background check, including motor vehicle records.
• Pass a drug test and meet federal DOT requirements.
• Wear safety equipment (boots with safety toe, hard hat, safety glasses, vest).
• Able to read signs, complete paperwork, and know motor carrier safety regs.
• Read plans and ensure traffic control plans are implemented.
• Know state/local roadways and operate varied delivery vehicles.
• Lift/move up to 70 pounds.
• Willing to travel statewide; may stay overnight.
• Rotating on-call schedule.

Responsibilities

• Operate company trucks to transport materials and equipment to job sites.
• Drive MOT vehicle to and from projects and on work sites.
• Drive TMA vehicle to and from projects and on work sites to protect workers and zones.
• Place temporary construction signs in work areas.
• Position arrow boards or variable message boards in work areas.
• Set up traffic cones and other safety devices.
• Monitor the work zone to ensure items stay in place.
• Collect and load traffic control items at start/end of shifts.
• Install, remove, and reset delineators, signs, posts, and supports.
• Perform shop work and routine maintenance on equipment.
• Adhere to safety rules and Company policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
