Job summary

SpiveyServices in Virginia is seeking a Traffic Control Supervisor to lead crews, set up and remove work zones, and ensure safe, compliant operations according to VWAPM. You will supervise field staff, coordinate readiness, and maintain accurate reports for clients and leadership.

The role requires 2+ years in traffic control or construction, a valid Virginia driver’s license, and the ability to lift 50+ lbs. Night shifts and travel within the region may be involved.

Qualifications

• Must have a valid Virginia Driver’s License.
• 2+ years field experience in traffic control or construction.
• Ability to lead small crews in the field with professionalism and urgency.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screen.
• Able to lift 50+ lbs and perform strenuous outdoor tasks.

Responsibilities

• Lead and oversee traffic control crews in setting up, monitoring, and removing work zones.
• Ensure operations meet VWAPM and project standards.
• Coordinate daily site operations and communicate with contractors and clients.
• Document jobsite activity, crew attendance, and safety concerns.
• Coach and train crew members on best practices and safety.

PositionOverview

AsaTrafficControlSupervisor,youwillberesponsibleforthesafeandeffectivesetup,maintenance,andtakedownofworkzonesinaccordancewiththeVirginiaWorkAreaProtectionManual(VWAPM)andclientspecifications.Youwillsuperviseacrewinthefield,coordinatejobreadiness,maintainaccuratereports,andensuretheworkzoneprotectsbothworkersandthetravelingpublic.

Qualifications

Required:

• MusthaveValidVirginiaDriver’sLicense

• Musthaveexperiencedrivinglargertrucks(18’–24’)—(CDLnotrequired)
• Mustdemonstratetheabilitytoleadsmallteamsinthefieldwithprofessionalismandurgency
• Mustbeabletoworkdayornightshiftsasassigned
• Mustbeabletopassbackgroundcheckanddrugscreen
