Job summary

SpiveyServices in Virginia is seeking a Traffic Control Supervisor to oversee safe and efficient setup, maintenance, and takedown of workzones per VWAPM and client specs. You will supervise crews in the field, coordinate readiness, and ensure accurate reporting while maintaining safety for workers and the traveling public.

You will lead daily readiness, staffing, and equipment deployment, review traffic control plans, and provide hands-on training. Evening and weekend shifts may be required.

Qualifications

• Must have valid Virginia driver’s license.
• At least two years of field experience in traffic control or construction.
• Strong understanding of basic traffic control principles and safety procedures.
• Experience leading small teams in the field with professionalism and urgency.
• Able to travel to multiple job sites within the region and work day or night shifts.

Responsibilities

• Oversee traffic control crews and ensure work zones meet VWAPM and project requirements.
• Conduct daily field audits, verify compliance, and take corrective actions as needed.
• Perform stationary and mobile lane closures on limited-access highways with proper setup and teardown.
• Serve as on-site contact for contractors, inspectors, and leadership.
• Review and interpret traffic control plans and ensure crews execute layouts efficiently.
• Coordinate daily job readiness, staffing, and equipment deployment.
• Adjust work zones in real time for emergencies, changes, or safety concerns.
• Provide hands-on training to new employees and supervision personnel.
• Model safety, productivity, and professionalism; participate in onboarding and junior supervision development.
• Maintain logs for activities, attendance, safety observations, and incident reports.

PositionOverview
