Job summary

Congruex in Mesa, AZ is seeking a Traffic Control Technician to set up and maintain safe work zones, direct traffic, and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. You will deploy cones, signs, barriers, and related devices to protect workers and motorists.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED (preferred), a valid driver’s license, and a TCT or Flagger certification. You should be able to work outdoors in varying weather, read TCPs, and communicate clearly with crews.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Certification as a Traffic Control Technician (TCT) or Flagger (e.g., ATSSA, NSC, or state-specific).
• Ability to stand for long periods and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong understanding of road safety regulations and signage standards.
• Good communication and situational awareness.

Responsibilities

• Set up, monitor, and remove temporary traffic control setups such as cones, signs, barricades, and arrow boards.
• Direct traffic using signs, hand signals, and flagging devices.
• Ensure traffic flow is managed safely around construction or maintenance zones.
• Follow and implement traffic control plans (TCPs) as directed by supervisors or engineers.
• Conduct regular inspections of the work zone to ensure compliance with safety standards and correct setup.
• Report incidents, accidents, or unsafe conditions promptly.
• Maintain communication with work crews and emergency personnel as needed.
• Operate traffic control devices, such as automated flagger assistance devices (AFADs), when applicable.
• Perform basic maintenance of equipment and tools.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
