Job summary

The City of Oxnard Police Department is seeking a Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisor to provide strong leadership and supervise lower-level Dispatcher positions. The role requires familiarity with dispatch procedures, supervision of staff, and training responsibilities within a busy Communications Center.

Qualifications include an associates degree or 60 semester units, four years of dispatcher experience, and POST supervisory certification within 12 months of hire.

Qualifications

• Associates of Arts/Science degree or the completion of 60 semester units from an accredited college or university.
• Possess the equivalent of four (4) years of Public Safety Dispatcher experience.
• Public Safety Dispatcher Supervisory Certificate within twelve (12) months of hire.
• Highly preferred experience as a Communications Training Officer.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and participates in the full array of duties in the Public Safety Dispatcher series.
• Receives, records and assigns call types and prioritizes incoming calls for law enforcement, fire, medical, emergency, and other Department services.
• Dispatches units based on the nature of the call and monitors unit status.
